Recap of The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 4 Premiere
After months of waiting, Season 4 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey finally kicked off, and although it’s been awhile since we’ve seen our garden state gals in action, they certainly didn’t disappoint. Here goes!
After Andy Cohen reminded viewers that Season 4 was so intense Jacqueline Laurita couldn’t even bring herself to attend the Season 3 reunion (which was held during filming of Season 4) we traveled four months back in time to watch everything unravel.
Last season ended with the release of Teresa Giudice’s second cookbook, and the usually supportive h’wives were in for a bit of a surprise when they discovered Teresa (who, somewhere along the way decided to try her hand at comedy writing) had a few choice words to say about her co-stars’ culinary abilities.
Although matriarch Caroline Manzoacted like she didn’t mind having her cooking compared to delectable dining chain, The Olive Garden, we all know this fierce Italian mama was nearing her wits end. “Admit it and tell me you did it,” Caroline said.
Teresa and Caroline headed outside to talk it out, and as T was saying she stood by her “jokes, Andy Cohen paid a bunch of thunderclouds to roll in and release a torrential rain, clearly an ominous sign for what’s to come.
Are You Shore?
Being that many of the housewives are grown-up versions of cast members from Jersey Shore, it should come as no surprise that the Gorga, Giudice and Wakile families all retreat to their shore houses during the summer months.
During their trek to the shore, Teresa asks her hubby Joe about his recent outings, and he freely admits to socializing with several ladies, for business purposes only of course. The wheels in Teresa’s head start to turn, but all her doubt goes away once she sees her shore house in the distance.
Melissa Gorga, on the other hand, isn’t as lucky. It seems that Joe decided to do a little renovating and add some soundproof walls to Chez Gorga (ya know, because of all those Gorgasms) and while he assures Meliss that the house is perfectly fine, but “just a little dusty” the house-shaped pile of bare cinder blocks tells a different story.
Joe Giudice may have dogged the cheating conversation, but rumors that he’s headed to the clink for driving with his brother’s license are spreading up and down the shore like an STD.
Teresa and her bro have a heartfelt conversation at the beach the next day, and while it was difficult for them not to bicker about a magazine article and insult each other, Joe made sure Teresa knew he would be there for her, should her husband get sent to jail
While Jacqueline was spared from Teresa’s cookbook, she did have to deal with a disaster of her own, her daughter Ashley.
Not surprisingly, Ash still lives at home, and although she’s no longer working those exhausting three hour days as an intern for Lizzie Grubman, we’re inclined to think she did learn a little something from the vehicularly challenged PR maven because, according to Jac, Ashley’s partying is out of control.
In the final scene from the premiere, Chris tells Ashley to pack her bags and head to Vegas to stay with relatives. It looks like the princess really is leaving the castle after all.
