Ashley was recently at The Tribeca Film Festival supporting co-star Chris Colfer’s new movie, Struck By Lightning (which he wrote and stars in) and she spoke to The Insider about her future on Glee, which is apparently no more.
While Ryan Murphy reportedly promised Fink that her character would have a major storyline with Kurt (Chris Colfer) despite breaking up with Puck (Mark Salling) and quitting the New Directions in the Season 3 premiere, he never came through on that promise.
Our girl Ashley isn’t bitter though, she explains, “Lauren's somewhere in that school, she's just not on camera or being talked about [laughs]. She's involved in activities that aren't televised.”
While Ashley may be laughing off her Glee phase-out, there’s no doubt that she misses being a part of the hit show. “Of course I miss me on Glee. I miss everybody. I miss the fun experience that show is. But Glee is very much a fly by the seat of your pants [operation] in the way that best laid plans never quite come together.”
As for why her character was seemingly dropped from the show, Ashley offers up the following explanation: “They have so many [characters] to take care of and I think once they made the decision that all these characters were going to graduate, it shifted the way this season was going to go. I haven't heard anything from Ryan, but I visited [while they were filming] prom, so I got to see everybody, which was great.”
There’s no doubt we’ve missed Lauren (and Ashley!) this season, but we’re glad to hear that she’s still close with her former castmates!
