We’ve been hearing rumblings on Tumblr of a domestic violence situation for a while, though it’s worth noting that FOX has not officially mentioned anything related in their episode description. Still, with a name like “Choke,” a plot involving physical abuse is certainly within the realm of possibility. (We’ve also heard that the title could come from the fact that Rachel [Lea Michele] will choke during her high-pressure NYADA audition. But Glee’s been known to use titles with multiple meanings in the past.)

So which “unlikely” character will be revealed as a victim of domestic violence? If we had to guess, we say it might be football coach Shannon Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones), who recently married sports recruiter Cooter Menkins (Eric Bruskotter).
A fan on Twitter recently asked Dot-Marie Jones what has been the hardest Glee episode for her to shoot so far. Dot-Marie replied that “Choke” was “very emotional for Bieste” and that “u go there.”
In addition, FOX’s latest episode summary hints, “Coach Beiste reveals a secret, and Sue Sylvester and Coach Roz lend a helping hand.”
If Glee does end up tackling the tough topic of abuse in Episode 18, what would you think? Is it important for a show like Glee to bring such sensitive and impactful issues to light, or do you think they’re going a bit overboard lately?
