For Declan specifically, the trial means choosing between his girlfriend and his brother.
"He has to pick a side — what's dearer to him; who's more important; who he holds closer — because Jack and Charlotte are on opposite ends of the outcome of this trial," Connor told MSN.
If Declan lets Daniel take the fall, his girlfriend Charlotte will lose her brother to a lifetime sentence. If he allows the evidence to lead back to Jack, he could see his own flesh and blood go to jail for a crime he didn't commit.
But there's more at stake than Declan's inner turmoil — this trial is poised to shake the very foundation of The Hamptons' most powerful family, not to mention Emily Thorne, who has the most to lose.
"Basically, we are picking up with the trial for the murder of Tyler Barrol and all the satellites that orbit that event, which is really that everybody has a stake in the trial — some more than others," he continues.
"That brings the return of certain characters, there's a breakdown ... and Daniel is facing some serious prison time and tensions have mounted."
Unless zombie Tyler comes back from the dead, we're going to assume the returning characters are Amanda and Takeda, who took off in Takeda's sports car after Tyler was shot.
What it all means for the fate of Daniel Grayson, we'll just have to wait and find out.
