After weeks of anticipation, last night’s Season 4 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race left fans shocked and angry when for the first time ever RuPaul announced that he would not declare a winner!
Instead, deadlocked RuPaul asked for fans’ input so he can choose between the finalists — veteran diva Chad Michaels, budding ingénue Phe-Phe O’Hare, and uber-edgy Sharon Needles. All three remaining contestants have been neck-and-neck (or heel-to-heel) throughout the competition.
When delivering news of the finale shocker RuPaul said, “Drag Race fans are the most loyal and enthusiastic in the world. The race is so close that I couldn’t resist sharing the excitement of the final crowning moment with an audience of superfans.” Fans can show their support (or displeasure) on Twitter (#DragRace) or on the Drag Race Facebook page.
As painful as it is to wait yet another week to find out which drag queen gets crowned, RuPaul promises that the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” will be announced at next week’s live reunion show, which airs on Logo on Monday, April 30 at 9 p.m.
