Pauly D Project Ratings Keep Sinking – Is He Still Worth the Same as Snooki & The Situation?

Last week, we reported on the Jersey Shore stars’ salaries — in particular, Pauly D’s, which was revealed as a result of a lawsuit filed by his former management company. The large number (roughly $2.1 million for Season 5, which was filmed over two months) seemed to surprise most people. Is Pauly D really worth it?

Keep in mind that, among the eight cast members, only three make that much money: Pauly, The Situation, and Snooki. But we’re starting to wonder if Pauly D is still on Mike and Nicole’s level when it comes to star power.

Yes, Pauly was given his own spin-off first: The Pauly D Project. But the buzz for that show has tapered off dramatically since before the show premiered. Whether it’s because his Rhode Island crew just isn’t as entertaining as the Vinny ‘n’ Pauly bromance we’re used to, or the fact that all of his on-camera mischief was already reported on and photographed back when the show was filming, we can’t be sure. But the lack of interest in Pauly is evident in the show’s ratings.

On Thursday, April 19, Season 1, Episode 4: “The Ring Toss” was watched by 1.5 million viewers, and only scored a 0.8 rating (meaning that only .8% of viewers aged 18 to 49 watched that night). But when The Pauly D Project premiered on March 29, 2.9 million people watched it, with a 1.6 rating. The numbers continue to drop each week.

If The Pauly D Project continues to sink, it could hurt his contract for Jersey Shore Season 6. As buzz continues to build for Snooki and JWOWW’s own spin-off (Snooki and JWOWW vs The World), and curiosity grows about how The Situation will handle filming while sober, will Pauly D’s fiscal value shrink?

Not that we’re worried about the guy’s bank account or anything. But we do like to see our amazing eight do well. Chin up, Pauly!
