Logic Fails in Glee’s Whitney Houston Tribute: Season 3, Episode 17: “Dance With Somebody”

Ever find yourself watching an episode of Glee, when you suddenly realize that something or other in the plot just isn’t adding up? It more or less happens on every TV show, and Glee is no exception. Here are our top five logic fails from Season 3, Episode 17: “Dance With Somebody.”

Did everyone forget that the only reason Quinn’s (Dianna Agron) in physical therapy in the first place is because she can’t feel anything below her waist? Just how, exactly, did she manage to feel Joe (Samuel Larsen) rubbing up against her? Of course, that look of shock and horror that came across his face might have been enough to tip her off. And she did reach up her hand to double-check what was happening. You know, just to be certain.

2. No Rory or Sugar. Again.

Did Rory (Damian McGinty) and Sugar (Vanessa Lengies) just evaporate off the face of the earth? Because this is the second week in a row they’ve been inexplicably missing. Look, we know they’re both only recurring characters — so Glee has no obligation to put them in every episode. Plus, we already have confirmation that they will both be back next week, and for the big stuff, like prom and Nationals.

Still, can’t we get a minor explanation of their absence? We’d settle for “Rory caught a bad cold,” or, “Sugar’s rich dad randomly decided to fly her to a private island in the Caribbean for a few days.” Whatever the cause, we just want someone to notice they’re gone.

Look, we like Joe. And we totally respect his decision to hold off on sealing the deal. But when did celibacy suddenly mean you can’t even date?

To quote Brittana from way back in Season 1. “Sex is not dating.” “Yeah, if it was, Santana and I would be dating.” Now, obviously the contest for Joe is a bit different, but the message remains the same. There’s no reason he and Quinn can’t have a perfectly sweet dating relationship without actually hooking up. Klaine did it for quite a while. Finchel, too. See? Totally possible.

4. The fact that NOBODY is Team Blaine in our Klaine poll.

Practically everybody is siding with Kurt in the big Klaine fight debate. Seriously, Glee fandom — were we even watching the same episode?! All this Blaine (Darren Criss) hate has gotten really intense these last few weeks. And frankly, we just don’t understand it.

5. Who needs a tongue? Santana can taste things with her mind!

That sweet Pezberry — yes, that would be Lopez/Berry — scene by the lockers is one of our favorite moments of the episode. Now, if only Santana’s (Naya Rivera) choice of phrasing made more sense. “Oh, crap. I think I just realized I’m going to miss you. Say something irritating so I can get the taste of this out of my head.” We’re not sure when Santana developed the ability to taste things with her brain. But then again, what can’t this lady do?
