HBO's realist comedy Girls may have caused early controversy and backlash, but that didn't stop the network from renewing the show for a second season after just three episodes.
Today, HBO announced via press release that that it has picked Girls up for another 10 episode season, which means there should be plenty more humiliating sex and touching moments of friendship to look forward to.
HBO also picked up Veep, the new politically oriented Julia Louis-Dreyfus vehicle, for a 10 episode Season 2.
Girls and Veep make an odd pairing — one is a realist dramedy, the other a snappy sitcom — but they both bolster HBO's image is the place for innovative TV with a strong voice. We're pleased, though not surprised, that both shows will be given the chance to grow for at least another year.
