American Idol’s Kris Allen has so much music in his heart he forgot about zoning laws. And he's sorry.
Allen played an impromptu concert on the Santa Monica pier on Sunday that got shut down by the cops because he lacked the proper permits. Allen admits he messed up. "The idea was wrong. I probably was doing something I shouldn't have. I didn't mean to disrespect anybody or break the law," he told E! Online.
His slipup might have gone unnoticed if he hadn’t been, you know, incredibly famous. "The crowd kind of got progressively bigger and I was actually playing the last song and this cop comes up, and he has got to be the biggest dude I have ever seen, and he is pissed at me, just so mad. He is like, 'Stop man, stop it—you're not supposed to be here.' I'm like, 'Sorry man, I didn't know.' I went to go shake his hand and he was like, 'I don't shake hands with anybody.'"
Really, Officer Mean? Not even gentle artist types who just want to sing? Way to keep the streets of Santa Monica safe from Kris Allen.
