It’s official: Reality TV and marriage do not mix. Today, Real Housewives of DC’s Mary Amons announced her split from her husband of 26 years, Rich Amons.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my twenty-six year marriage," Amons said in a statement. "While I have the deepest respect for my husband and wish him the very best, we have grown apart.” The ex-reality star goes on to say she hopes the split will be an “amicable process” for the sake of the couple’s children and asks others to respect her family’s privacy at this time.
Sad as it may be, Amons is hardly the first Real Housewife to go through a divorce after a stint on the show, and she’s not even the first Real Housewife of DC to do so: Co-stars Michaele and Tareq Salahi are entrenched in a bitter (and bizarre) divorce as we speak. Stacie Scott Turner and Catherine Ommanney have also suffered breakups since filming the show.
We wish Mary the best of luck during this trying time!
