Star-Studded Bachelor Spoof “Burning Love” to Premiere in June — Sneak Peek!
Bachelors everywhere better brace themselves for some laughter at their expense, because the new Yahoo Comedy web series Burning Love has its sights set on making fun of over-the-top reality show drama — especially the dating kind.
In an exclusive sneak preview on Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch, the show’s co-creator and star Ken Marino (Party Down) explains that the obvious skewering of The Bachelor comes from a place of love, calling the ABC reality show a “very guilty pleasure” shared by he and his wife, Erica Oyama Marino, who co-wrote the scripted comedy series together.
Ken’s character is fire-fighter Mark Orlando, whom Ken describes as “oblivious to other people's feelings — basically to the point of insult." Contestants vying for Mark’s love include a homeless woman and a frisky senior citizen (clearly an homage to Season 16’s Ben Flajnik and Grandma Sheryl).
Ben Stiller, who plays a former Bachelor-type leading man, executive produced the series, which also boasts appearances by Ken Jeong (Community), Adam Scott (Parks & Rec), Michael Ian Black, Kristen Bell and even former BachelorJake Pavelka! According to Ken, Jake plays a character that “is a little disapproving of the show and the whole set-up.”
