Game of Thrones

Breaking Down the Game of Thrones Season 2, Episode 6 Preview: What Happens In the Episode?

The Game of Thrones cast and crew aren't exactly forthcoming with the spoilers, so even the most devoted book fans are left wondering what, precisely, will happen on each next new episode of the hit series.

Fortunately, we do have the previews to help us out. We've closely examined the preview for Season 2, Episode 6: "The Old Gods and the New" (which you can watch here). This is what we can glean about what's going down in Westeros and beyond this week:

Cat reaches Robb: Cat manages to get back to her son this week. That was quick!

News from Winterfell: Unfortunately, their reunion is marred by news from Winterfell; based on the tone of the man delivering the message, it's not good news. Is it ever, in Westeros? In another clip, Robb declares that "I'll take his head myself." Is he still talking about one of the Lannisters (Joffrey? Everyone wants that kid dead), or is that declaration related to what he learns about Winterfell?

Dany seeks out ships: Dany appears to be appealing to yet another Qarth bigwig in hopes of getting transport across the narrow sea. But it looks like her negotiations take a turn for the worse. Xaro counsels her that the path to power can't always be pure, and we see a brief scene of what looks like a lot of dead bodies in Qarth. Uh-oh...

Fight beyond the wall: It looks like Jon's scouting party does attack some Wildlings (presumably the watch party they were planning to take down). Arrows fly! It looks like Jon is going to cut someone's head off! Great excitement all around.

Myrcella sent away: Tyrion follows through on his plan to send Myrcella away from King's Landing, and in return Cersei threatens that she'll make sure he finds out what loss feels like one day. What a loving family.

Catch the episode on Sunday, May 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
