Should Skylar Laine Have Been Eliminated From American Idol 2012 on May 3, 2012?
We weren’t expecting to say goodbye to our favorite country gal on American Idol! After a nationwide vote, America decided it was Skylar Laine’s time to go. The decision came as a shock to many, as she had only touched the Bottom 3 twice throughout the competition (unlike her fellow Bottom 2 compatriot, Hollie Cavanagh).
Her solid renditions of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” and Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” received critical praise from the judges. We were beginning to see some real growth and ownership of songs in Skylar’s recent choices. But voters were apparently not swayed by her efforts last night.
We’ll definitely miss her feisty personality. No one can rock a pair of cowboy boots on the Idol stage quite like you, Skylar!
