Dancing With The Stars

Sneak Peek of DWTS Season 14, Week 8: Trio Challenge With New Pros, Chris Brown Performs, Tribute to Dick Clark

Chris Brown is back. He performed on Dancing With the Stars last year and there was some outcry that he shouldn’t be there, but he’s back. Maybe because he tends to give DWTS good ratings.

Season 14, Week 8 will also feature the fun-sounding new "Trio Challenge," a Macy’s Stars of Dance tribute to Dick Clark, dances from Dmitry Chaplin, Karina Smirnoff and Tony Dovolani and a double elimination.

Here’s what else ABC says we can expect on Week 8:

Monday’s dances: The remaining six couples hit the ballroom with two rounds of competitive dance performances, a ballroom dance and the Trio dance. During the Trio dance, a DWTS first, each couple will be allowed to add an extra professional dancer to their routine. The second dancer will be chosen from a pool of eliminated pros and members of The Troupe. In addition to their regular criteria for judging dance routines, the judges will pay extra attention to how well each celebrity is showcased in the performance with an extra dancer in the mix. Right now we know Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd will be dancing with Karina, Melissa Gilbert & Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be dancing with Val Chmerkovskiy and Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas made the wise decision to bring back Irish Lucky Charm Tristan MacManus as their “turd” partner. Pro troupe members Henry Byalikov, Sasha Farber and Emma Slater also seem to be joining the mix although it’s not 100 percent clear yet where they will be paired. Should be fun!

Chris Brown performs: Grammy Award winner Chris Brown will take to the stage during Tuesday’s Results Show with a performance of his song “Turn Up the Music,” the first single off his new album, “Fortune,” which releases May 8.

Vegas show: Also during Tuesday night’s show, Dmitry Chaplin and Anya Garnis will perform a special routine from the “Dancing with the Stars Live in Las Vegas Show” to “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”

Tribute to Dick Clark: Macy’s Stars of Dance will be an "American Bandstand" tribute to the legendary Dick Clark. The performance will be a huge dance number featuring pro dancers Karina Smirnoff, Tony Dovolani and the DWTS pro troupe, choreographed by Jamal Sims and Wendy Johnson, and will pay homage to "American Bandstand," representing four decades of the popular music show, with many of the original "Bandstand" regulars joining us in the audience.

Double elimination: By Tuesday evening’s end, two couples will be eliminated, as determined by a combination of the judges’ scores and viewers’ votes on dances performed on Monday’s performance show. Who among the six couples will be the next to leave the ballroom and who will make up the final four?
