The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries Season 3 Finale Spoilers: Guess Who’s Back in Mystic Falls?

Our hearts are still palpitating from the promo video for Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 22, “The Departed.” Sure, it has a worrisome car crash involving Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) — that boy has already drowned once this season — but we’re stuck on one face we’ve been dying to see.

Yes, Original fans. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is back in the MF. “There's a hot mess in Mystic Falls. It's a hot mess! We need a little Elijah to restore some order,” Gillies tells E! Online. Thank goodness. We never thought we’d hear Alaric (Matt Davis) referred to as a “hot mess,” but the guy’s got a point.

Of course, we get nervous whenever the big E shows up, because it means he’s in danger of dying — even if it’s not permanent. “Brutal things happen. I feel like the character Precious,” jokes Daniel. As long as he survives to see Season 4, we guess Elijah getting daggered isn’t the worst thing.

One thing Daniel is very serious about is his new foundation, which raises money for a little boy named Isaias Quintana. The 2-year-old is suffering from neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that affects 1 out of 100,000 children. Daniel’s mission is to raise $10,000 for the boy and his family, who are struggling to pay for Isais’s medicine and other necessities. “It's just really important for me to get an awareness of this boy out there in the world and an awareness of this disease. The first step I'd like to take is to raise some money,” Gillies tells E! Online.

Sigh. We might love Daniel even more than we love Elijah. Check out the Team Isaias page here and donate.
