Glee Promo for Season 3, Episode 19: Our In-depth Analysis of “Prom-asaurus”
It’s that time again! The McKinley High School prom is upon us once again, and this time the stakes are even higher. For many of our favorite Glee characters, Season 3, Episode 19: “Prom-asaurus” will mark their very last high school dance ever.
If the promo for Glee’s May 8 episode is any indication, it’s going to be quite the drama-filled night! We’re breaking down the promo and analyzing it: second-by-second, frame-by-frame, in search of clues. Take a look at what we’ve discovered.
Scene 1a: Time for an official McKinley High School bulletin! Becky (Lauren Potter) plays those familiar-sounding xylophone bells. Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) stands over the desk. The announcer begins: “Next Tuesday.”
Scene 1b: Brittany has an announcement. Quiet, everyone! The senior class president is about to speak. Joe (Samuel Larsen) looks interested, anyway. “The theme for this year’s prom will be...” Even Will (Matthew Morrison) seems to be curious now. “DINOSAURS!”
Scene 2b: Puck and Becky... in Becky’s bedroom? He places a crown — one made of cardboard beer containers, anyway — on her head with a regal flourish. Puck’s even got a matching one. Wait a minute: Does this mean Puck and Becky are prom dates?
Scene 3a: Rachel’s practically seething with anger. She rushes up to a poster in the hallway and tears it off the wall. If you look close, the poster showed an image of her fiance, Finn (Cory Monteith), and his ex-girlfriend, Quinn (Dianna Agron), holding hands and apparently running for Prom King and Queen.
Wait, Finn and Quinn aren’t going to prom together, are they? We find it hard to believe that Rachel would allow that! They’re probably just running together for the prom titles. Q must think she has a better chance of winning that way.
And yes, Quinn is still in her wheelchair. Physical therapy doesn’t work that quickly, people! (That is... if it will even work for Q at all. Gulp.) Scene 3b: Cut to the McKinley auditorium. Rachel’s venting to to Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) while they all sit in chairs on stage. “I do NOT want to watch Finn and Quinn get crowned Prom King and Queen.” Girlfriend is angry.
Britt’s fun bow tie, white tuxedo hat, and suit top we could totally handle on their own. We’d actually kind of dig it. But why the big, flowy seafoam skirt thing to go along with it? There has to be some sort of explanation... right?
Scene 4b: In any case, the announcer’s talking again. “And it’s gonna be a night to remember!” Principal Figgins is dancing. He’s got moves, no?
Scene 5a: Now it’s Brittany’s turn to perform. The song is Ke$ha’s “Dinosaur,” and she has Cheerios in giant T-Rex heads as her backup dancers. Only you, Brittany. And we love it. Plus, how hot does she look in that sexy cavegirl costume? That totally makes up for the earlier outfit mess.
Scene 5b: Hold on. Finn just started yelling. He’s standing over Quinn as she sits on the dance floor in her wheelchair. “STAND UP!” he bellows. A look of shock and horror passes over Kurt’s face. “Oh my dear God.” Did Finn just yell at a paralyzed girl to get out of her wheelchair?
Scene 5c: “And it will be a night. They’ll never. Forget.” Quinn looks up at Finn incredulously. He must seriously think she’s secretly regained the ability to walk, and is only using the wheelchair to gain pity votes for prom queen.
Could he possibly be right?! Honestly, we wouldn’t put it past the Quinn from last year’s prom to pull something like that. But after everything she’s been through lately. Would Q really go to such desperate and deceitful lengths — all to finally get her crown?
Scene 5d: Well... would she? Joe certainly doesn’t think so! Dreadlocks over there looks like he’s about to punch Finn in the face. Sue rushes over to intervene. She’s seething mad. (Plus, she’s pointing. So you know she’s serious.) “Are you going to force me to eject you from yet another prom?”
Yikes. Will Finn really get kicked out of prom for fighting a second year in a row? And do you really think Quinn would go as far as to fake paralysis if it meant she’d finally get the Prom Queen crown she’s been coveting for so long? May 8 simply can’t get here fast enough!
