The Bachelor’s Chris Harrison Splits With Wife: How Much Money Is at Stake?

Chris Harrison is the Ryan Seacrest of reality television involving roses. Without Chris, there’d be approximately 80 percent fewer dramatic pauses, lingering awkward moments, and let’s not forget those touching, soul-baring candlelit one-on-ones with The Bachelor and Bachelorette. In a heartbreaking turn of events, our beloved Rosemaster is now seemingly at the end of his own love journey. Yesterday, Chris and wife Gwen announced they are splitting after 19 years of marriage.

While we reel from the emotional implications, we can’t help but wonder about the financial implications of a celebrity split. Chris, like Ryan, rakes in millions of dollars a year (not quite Seacrest baller status, but almost) — and he and Gwen live in California, which, as a no-fault state, splits assets 50/50 in the event of divorce. Gwen, who met Chris back when they were both students at Oklahoma City University, stands to net a sizeable chunk of Chris’ Bachelor earnings. Let’s do the math:

Salary per every Bachelor franchise episode: $60,000
Estimated annual salary for Bachelor-related programming: $1.5 million
Reported net worth, according to The Richest: $15.5 million

Chris and Gwen have lived a quiet existence just 35 miles outside of Los Angeles for years — and have two kids, Joshua, 9, and Taylor, 7. As expected, the separation is being handled with the utmost grace from both parties. On Thursday, Chris tweeted, “Gwen & I thank you for all the support. Nothing but love & respect between us & as always our priority is our kids.”
