Fox Cancels Bones Spin-Off The Finder! What Other Fox Drama Series Is Getting the Boot?
It appears that big ratings can be hard to "find." Fox is cancelingBones spin-off The Finder — which starred Geoff Stults and Michael Clarke Duncan — after only 13 episodes. Then again, it can't be that big of a surprise when a spin-off doesn't work out. (Anyone still sad that Joey got canceled? We didn't think so.)
The show had trouble finding viewers at its initial time slot of Thursdays at 9 p.m. — against formidable competition like Grey's Anatomy and The Office— and then it did even worse when switched to Fridays at 8 p.m. And no, it's never a good sign when a show gets tossed into a dreaded Friday night slot.
Some analysts had assumed that Fox would renew the show just to continue its good relationship with creator Hart Hanson (who also created Bones). Sadly, that wasn't enough to save the show.
Also getting the axe from Fox is first-year drama series Alcatraz, from Lost creator J.J. Abrams, while Kiefer Sutherland's series Touch is getting renewed for a second season.
And even though we'll miss The Finder, we still want to give a note to the networks: Lightning doesn't often strike twice. (Translation: Enough with the spin-offs!)
