Breaking Down the Game of Thrones Season 2, Episode 8 Preview: What Happens In the Episode?
TheGame of Thrones cast and crew aren't exactly forthcoming with the spoilers, so even the most devoted book fans are left wondering what precisely will happen on each new episode of the hit series — especially now that the show hasdiverged so much from the book.
Fortunately, we do have the previews and thepress release about the episode to help us out. We've closely examined the preview forSeason 2, Episode 8: "The Prince of Winterfell" (which you can watch here). This is what we can glean about what's going down in Westeros and beyond this week.
Jon handed over: Ygritte hands Jon over to a wildling called the Lord of Bones. He's covered in, well, bones. That is not comforting. Neither is another clip, where he says "gut him." Poor Jon.
Tyrion worried: Tyrion tells Shae they have to be more careful, because there are people who want to hurt him. Is he afraid Cersei will use his feelings for Shae against him? In another clip, we see Tyrion tell his sister "I will hurt you for this," so something must go down between these less-than-loving siblings.
Jorah's advice: Jorah thinks Dany needs to flee Qarth, but she doesn't want to leave without her dragons. The press release says Dany "ignores" advice from Jorah, so we're guessing she stays. Robb's declaration: The press release says that "Robb is betrayed," and in the preview he says "we will hunt him down no matter where he runs." Hmm … did he get word of what Theon supposedly did to his brothers, or is this a different "he"?
Theon and Yara: Speaking of Theon, it looks like Yara has come to Winterfell, as he requested, but she seems less than impressed with him. "Every man in the north wants to see you hang," she declares disdainfully.
The time to strike: Joffrey says, "Now is the time to strike." We assume this is a bad idea, because Joffrey is never right.
Tywin rides, Arya reacts: Tywin is apparently heading away from Harrenhal, and Arya makes a final, desperate request of Jaqen: "I need him dead right now." We assume these things are related, though we could be wrong. The press release says that Jaqen is displeased at the way Arya calls in her final dept, perhaps because she is so last-minute and urgent about it, again.
