Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Finale Review: Rate “Flight”

Well that was fast. Most of us were expecting the highly-feared death to occur in the final moments of Grey's Anatomy Season 8 finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight"). But a mere 18 minutes in, we said our last goodbye to Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh). It seems that one of our theories was correct after all.

Frankly, the rest of the episode seemed like a blur after such a catastrophic event. We were with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), wailing away, while minor plot lines unfolded elsewhere. Sure, Mer and Cristina (Sandra Oh) were still looking for Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in the beginning, but we knew yesterday that he was fine (thanks to the first seven minutes released).

Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) made up but then he fired her, April (Sarah Drew) was stressed and babysitting Zola, Richard (James Pickens Jr.) was planning his dinner, Bailey (Chanda Wilson) and Ben were cute-fighting about long-distance love, and Alex (Justin Chambers) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) were...doing stuff too.

So Derek may never be able to be a surgeon again. Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April had a cute make-up scene. What’s Richard’s big secret? Not a huge cliffhanger here, unless for some reason Shonda has another trick up her sleeve, and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and/or Mark (Eric Dane) die too...

Anyway what did you think?

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
