Emily Maynard Explains Why She Changed Her Mind About Being The Bachelorette
Emily Maynard is finally speaking out, for the first time since it was announced that she would be the Season 8 Bachelorette. She has a lot of ‘splainin’ to do since she tweeted point-blank last summer that she didn’t want to helm the 2012 season of the ABC franchise.
"I genuinely meant that," Emily toldPeople Magazine in a new interview. "I feel like the biggest hypocrite because I said that and now I'm doing it."
So what changed her mind? "I know it can work," Emily continued. "I fell in love the first time and no, we didn't end up getting married, but in the end just falling in love, for me, is a success."
It probably helped that the show filmed Season 8 at least in part in her hometown of Charlotte, N.C (before jetting off to Bermuda and several other undisclosed locations). Em tells People her daughter Ricki is not going to be involved in a lot of filming and is “certainly not meeting the guys,” but she’s excited to go on vacation with Mommy. According to field reports, Ricki has already been in attendance peripherally during the dates, but hasn't come into contact with any of her mom's suitors just yet. Ricki most likely joined her mother on the trip to Bermuda.
At the time of the interview, Em said she’s “scared to death” to be doing this and it hasn’t quite hit her yet. Take a deep breath, lady, ‘cause you’re on the ride of your life!
