Bachelor Ben Flajnik Honored for “Contributions to Community”
Who knew that drunken hot-tubbin’ and late-night skinny-dippin’ could lead to civic praise — but that’s exactly what in store for BachelorBen Flajnik in his hometown of Sonoma, Ca.
Local Sonoma paper Press Democrat reports Mayor Joanne Sanders declares, in a written proclamation, that her city “is proud of Ben Flajnik and wishes to acknowledge his life, his successes, and his contributions to the community,” adding, “filming portions of The Bachelor in Sonoma brought with it an injection of revenue benefiting the local economy as well as bringing international exposure to our wonderful little city.” Ben’s Sonoma County winery Envolve, which he started with childhood friends, became a large part of his Bachelor identity. In fact — remember when ABC even changed the show’s logo into a romantic vineyard at sunset?
Ben says, ““It’s an honor, that’s for sure,” then modestly adds, “I didn’t think I was gonna get it for something like this, but I understand how the show sparked local commerce. I didn’t work to be on this reality television show, so it’s not like I earned it by any means.” One thing Ben definitely earned was Courtney Robertson’s hand — and, who knows, maybe they’ll decide to wed in wine country!
