American Horror Story Season 2 Spoilers: Details on Chloe Sevigny’s Character and the New “Hero”
In a lengthy interview with Vulture, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed a great many details about the new characters we’ll meet once Season 2 premieres in October. So what can we expect (aside from a brand-new opening credits sequence scarier than most horror movies)?
Evan Peters plays the “Hero.” Evan was the Kurt Cobain look-a-like who played dead romantic hero Tate in AHS Season 1. But Ryan says, “People will love seeing Evan Peters, who was last season’s ultimate badass bad boy and this year is the hero of the show.” He continues, “It’s not like the [returning] actors are playing similar parts. They’re going to look different, they’re going to sound different, they’re going to have different accents. It’s a different time period.”
Speaking of the time period... Ryan officially states that Season 2 will take place during the 1960s, not the 1970s, like some reports have announced.
The season’s theme will be “sanity.” Ryan says that the Season 1 theme was infidelity, what with Dylan McDermott’s character having sex with every ghost in sight and Connie Britton having twins from two different fathers. But Ryan says that, “The second season is about sanity. What makes someone sane or insane? Sometimes the people you think are insane are actually the most sane of all. It’s fun to write about people who society throws away.”
Chloe Sevigny’s character will be... Ryan says that the Big Love star “plays a character who was put in an asylum because she was a woman who likes sex, so her husband sends her away.”
Sex plays a major part. Again. Chloe Sevigny’s character actually represents a lot of the sexual confusion of the time period Ryan plans on portraying. He says, “At the time, you were able to put people away for [promiscuity]. Another character is institutionalized for being a lesbian.” So, basically, there will be a lot of horny patients who may or may not be insane.
We can’t wait!
American Horror Story Season 2 is slated to premiere on FX in October.
