The Bachelorette

Bachelorette Trista Sutter: Doug Clerget Played the Single Dad Card “Too Hard” With Emily

Trista Sutter is the original Bachelorette and she’s going her own way when it comes to Emily Maynard’s Season 8. While other Bachelorettes like Ashley Hebert and Ali Fedotowsky have singled out Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and Jef Holm as potential frontrunners, Trista has her eyes on two different guys (but still Arie!) — and also shares serious criticism for one of the season’s two single dads.

In an interview with Hollywood.com after the Season 8 premiere, Mrs Ryan Sutter said one of her favorite bachelors is Mr. Ryan Bowers: “I really like Ryan, go figure,” she said. Her Bachelor #2 is Arie: “I thought that it seemed like they had good chemistry. For a first impression that's important.” She also noted they can connect on a shared love of car racing. Her Bachelor #3? Alessandro Goulart! “I think a guy who can speak another language is sexy. She probably won't pick Alessandro, but I liked him."

Trista doesn’t seem to Kalon McMahon, who shot himself in the foot by coming in on a chopper: “I mean, when you come in with that kind of ego, I don't know how you can't be portrayed as a [villain]. A villain in our society is someone who is conceited. When you have to use a helicopter and when you're showing yourself buying shoes and talking about how much money you have, I don't think that’s the classiest way to go. Not a real fan of Kalon.”

But, perhaps surprisingly she and Ryan also don’t seem to be fans of single dad Doug Clerget. “Ryan and I were watching together and we both felt the same way, that he was kind of playing the parent card a little too hard,” Trista said. "I was a little shocked that he got the first rose.”

She’d better be careful; if Doug hears her saying that he might shout at her to “Check it!”

Do you agree with Trista’s early season picks?
