John Mayer Says None of His Exes Were “The One That Got Away”

There’s no escaping awkward questions when you play “Plead the Fifth” with Andy Cohen in Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! clubhouse. John Mayer was in the hot seat on May 23, right on the heels of his Born and Raised record release, and was joined by legendary CBS News anchor Dan Rather.

When the behatted, denim-jacket-wearing singer was asked the first “Plead the Fifth” question, he declined to answer. Andy wanted him to play “Shag, Marry, Kill“ with his exes Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica Simpson. “I think that’s double jeopardy, actually,” said Mayer before pleading the fifth.

The next question provided a bit of insight into the first. “Of all of the women you have been linked to, is there one that got away?” asked Andy. Hedging his bets, John said the question was “easy to answer with my mouth, I would say, hard to answer with my face. But I would say it’s how you answer.” He then demonstrated that his “No” was serious instead of smirking.

Of course, if you still dream of marrying the love child of Johnny Depp and Crocodile Dundee, there’s hope. A caller asked Mayer on the After Show if he’d ever settle down and have some babies. “Absolutely … I’m sorry for anything that I have ever done in my life that would’ve given the impression otherwise,” said John.

There was good news for all of humanity as well. John said he’s sticking by his self-imposed Twitter ban because “it doesn’t work for me.”
