When Is The Perks of Being a Wallflower Out in Theaters?
If you’ve been awaiting the adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower as anxiously as we have, you might have noticed it’s taking awhile to get to a theater near you. The movie stars Emma Watson (Hermione Granger, of course), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), Paul Rudd (we’ll always know him from Clueless), andNina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) and began filming in July 2011.
It wasrumored to have an original release date of Spring 2012, butIMDb now says the film will come out on September 21. According to MTV, the film will open with limited release on September 7. The firststills, video, andpress for the movie started back in October 2011, so it’s a little worrisome that the date was pushed back so much. Considering the stellar cast and source material, we’re still holding out hope the movie will live up to our expectations.
Based on the novel of the same name, the film revolves around Charlie, who writes angst-filled letters to an anonymous person, detailing the trials of high school life. Stephen Chbosky wrote both the book and the screenplay and directed the film, so it should stay pretty faithful to the original.
Well, at least the September release date means we’ll get to relive the teenage woes in the midst of back-to-school time.
