Holly Durst: Why It’s Really Hard to Be on Reality TV
Holly Durst was walking down the street one day when someone asked if she wanted to be on The Bachelor. She said yes. (Apparently the "never talk to strangers" message didn't quite get through to her.) A week later, she was dating Matt Grant on Season 12.
Then she dated The Bachelorette Season 4 winner Jesse Csincsak. Then she dated The Bachelorette Season 5's Michael Stagliano. At one point, when Holly and Michael were engaged and set to be married alongside his brother Stephen Stagliano and Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas, they were all scheduled to do a reality TV show together called Four Better or Worse. That didn't happen, but Holly and Stag reunited on Bachelor Pad Season 2, where Holly fell in love with her soon-to-be-husband, Blake Julian, *and* won half of the $250,000 prize.
So would she do reality TV again? "No! I'm over it," Holly tells RumorFix. "I just like my normal life now. I never was into reality TV, I didn't search it out."
Holly and Blake now live a relatively quiet life in Greenville, S.C., and after they get married on June 2, they’re going to keep on keepin’ on with their low-key Southern life.
What's the best thing about not being on reality TV anymore? "People don’t know my business and they can’t judge me for every single little thing I do, which is not fun," Holly said."It’s really hard to be on TV shows and people scrutinizing every little thing that you do. Everyone lives their life, but everyone doesn’t get criticized for it.”
Sure they do! Anyway, Holly said it’d be a different story if she were paid $1 million to do reality TV. (What, $125K and a husband weren’t enough?) So if they get bored, maybe she and Blake should try out for The Amazing Race.
