Rachel and Kurt’s Futures on Glee Season 4: Lea Michele and Chris Colfer Tease What’s to Come

They may have graduated from McKinley High, but Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) will still be a very big part of Glee Season 4 next year.

Rachel is, of course, headed off to New York City to start her freshman year at NYADA, and although Kurt was rejected from the prestigious arts school, we’re hearing definite rumblings that Kurt will likely decide to move to NYC, anyway.

Both Lea and Chris spoke with Access Hollywood about what fans can expect to see in Season 4, and why splitting the show between both Ohio and NYC makes sense for what’s to come.

“It definitely felt like, you know, the proper next step,” Lea says. “We’ve been working on the show now since 2008, so to get to take these characters to new locations and to be exploring some new material, a little bit more mature and older stuff, I think it’s very interesting as an actor. To get to take a character on a TV show from one location and now welcome her to something new is very rare to see on TV.”

Earlier this month, FOX revealed that both Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker and Hollywood star Kate Hudson will join Season 4 for multiple episode arcs.

SJP will appear as a “mentor of sorts” for Kurt, while Kate will be working closely with Rachel. Chris is mum on the details, teasing only, “I think what they’ve got planned for the two characters is going to be really, really great. The fans are going to be very, very happy.”

For her part, Lea says she had quite the reaction upon hearing what creator Ryan Murphy has in store for her and Kate.

“I just about died. We’re coming into our fourth season, and to be this excited about our storylines and about the people that we’re getting to work with, I think is just really awesome,” she says.

Whatever Rachel and Kate end up doing, it sounds like there will definitely be a bit of humor involved. Lea continues, “I think she’s incredible. She’s one of the best comedic actresses out there right now, so I can’t wait to work with her. And what he has in store for us is just so cool.”
