Bachelorette Emily Maynard: Arie Luyendyk, Jr., Becomes a “Pretty Strong Contender”

Emily Maynard was on Extra this week, previewing her "mama bear" side coming out on The Bachelorette Season 8, Episode 3 in defense of little Ricki. "I laid down the law," she teases.

Host Mario Lopez asked for her strongest contenders among the bachelors. She named Ryan Bowers — who got the first date of the season — Jef Holm, who got the first group date rose — and Arie Luyendyk, Jr., who has a date on tonight's Episode 3. So ... chances are good Arie gets a rose tonight. Spoiler alert!

As Emily explained her top picks to Mario, "Ryan had the first date, and that was a great first date to start it all off with. Arie, you will see, becomes a pretty strong contender. Jef got the rose on the group date..." Mario cut her off at that point, before she could name some others. But at least those guys are standing out at this point. She was also asked how she decides when to go in for a kiss or get a little more friendly.

Emily: "I think kissing is one thing..."
Mario: "Oh so you can kiss everybody and it's all good?
Emily: "I think so! I think that's a part of being The Bachelorette!"

But she’s clearly not kissing everyone, since it’s been a pretty smooch-free season, up until tonight’s steamy dates. Em dodged the question of being in love, just repeating her usual, "you have to wait and see!" She also said she hasn’t heard from her ex-fiance, Bachelor Brad Womack, in regards to the show. (He said he won’t be watching.) But she said they keep in touch through friends. She also said Brad is really the only guy that her daughter Ricki has met, up to this point, and she’s already said she regrets that move. Hopefully she won’t regret whatever happens with the new guy!
