Joe Giudice Given More Time to Negotiate Plea Deal in Criminal Case, But Will Serve Time in Jail

Late last year, Joe Giudice was indicted after it was revealed that he had used his brother Pietro Giudice’s records to obtain a driver's license after his own had been suspended.

Since the indictment, Joe and his lawyers have been working with Passaic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jay McCann to reach a plea deal in the case, but during a court appearance on May 29, Joe’s lawyer (who stood beside his silent client) asked for more time for both parties to reach an agreement.

While the judge in the case noted that Joe has already been given ample time to work out a deal (he even rejected an earlier deal that would land him in prison for 5 years instead of the maximum 10), she agreed to give both parties until June 27 to reach a final compromise.

However, Giudice, who had already accumulated some 39 points on his license prior to this incident, isn’t expected to get off without serving some additional time in jail.

McCann tells that “Some sort of jail time will be part of any plea offer, as the charges are too serious to allow a probation-only sentence.”

We know this can’t be an easy time for Teresa Giudice or her family, but we’re sure she’ll rise to the occasion just like she always does!
