Snow White and the Huntsman, High School, The Loved Ones: Wetpaint Entertainment’s Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 6/1
The calendar still says spring, but as far as we're concerned, June means summer! What better way to cool off after a hot day in the sun than in an icy-cold movie theater? Here's the scoop on three flicks showing this Friday, June 1.
Snow White and the Huntsman
Fairy tales are hot right now — especially Snow White — and this action-adventure epic is the opposite of the sugary-sweet Mirror, Mirror. Kristen Stewart takes on the role of the fair maiden pitted against Charlize Theron's ferocious Evil Queen. You already know the story, but what you don't know is that Snow has actually been training with the huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) the Queen sent after her. Sexy: Chris Hemsworth Not sexy: Vanity Verdict: Make it a badass girls' night with your gal pals.
Henry has terrible timing: The day after he decides to smoke marijuana for the first time, his school principal announces a campus-wide drug test, promising to expel any student who fails. In other words, he might as well kiss his scholarship to MIT goodbye. Unless... what if everyone failed? Henry and his buddy come up with a master plan to switch out the bake sale treats with special brownies — but first they have to steal an enormous amount of weed from a psycho drug dealer (Adrien Brody). Sexy: Smart guys Not sexy: Stoner guys Verdict: Adrien Brody alone is reason enough to check out this comedy that's bound to join the ranks of Half-Baked and Dazed and Confused — a good one for a group of friends.
The Loved Ones
When Lola gets turned down by her puppy-love crush Brent for the prom, she refuses to take no for an answer. The deranged girl and her equally mental father kidnap the poor guy for a private prom at her home, where they torture him mercilessly. Critics are loving this twisted tale and its teen villain, whom one reviewer calls "a terrifying cross between Carrie and Rachel Berry from Glee." Shudders. Sexy: Prom night Not sexy: This sadisticprom night Verdict: A must-see for fans of horror, but a must-skip for the extremely squeamish.
