Director Penny Marshall Gets Duped Out of Thousands by Fake Lamar Odom
Hey, here’s some advice: If Lamar Odom sends you a text asking for a large sum of money, maybe arrange a face-to-face meet first. Director Penny Marshall learned that the hard way when a grifter posing as Lamar’s assistant scammed her out of over $5,000, according to TMZ.
Penny met Lamar’s “assistant” at a Lakers game, where he gave her what he said was Lamar’s phone number. Penny and “Lamar” texted back and forth for several days (about what? We would love to see those texts) before “Lamar” asked her to lend him some money. She obliged, and he, of course, stopped texting back.
We’re so sorry Penny had to go through that. But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t love everything about this story. What could Penny possibly want to text the real Lamar Odom about? And why would she think he would need her money? And if he did, why would he need cash? Were they planning to ditch their identities and flee the country together after a torrid text-only romance?
Sorry, we’re getting snarky. But this is the weirdest/best thing we’ve ever heard.
