Lea Michele Gushes About The Glee Project 2 Cast: “I Was Just Blown Away”
Glee‘s Lea Michele (Rachel) will make her first-ever The Glee Project appearance during tonight’s Season 3 premiere, and the starlet just can’t stop gushing about how excited she felt to take part in the show.
"[Glee casting director] Robert Ulrich was telling me about each one of the kids and about their stories,” Lea tells The Hollywood Reporter,” and I was just blown away. Blown away by the bravery of these kids to come on the show and really show who they are and tell their stories; it's really inspiring."
This season’s contenders have quite an array of powerful backstories. Mario has been blind since childhood, Ali has had to use a wheelchair since age two, Aylin grew up with a traditional Muslim background, and Tyler is the show’s first-ever transgender competitor.
Still, even the most compelling of stories won’t be of any help if you don’t have real singing and acting skills. Luckily, Lea says that isn’t a problem for this year’s kids.
"The talent is just as great — if not even stronger," Lea shares. "All of these kids, their stories are so inspirational and they're so touching that I think people are just going to fall in love with all the contestants."
So who does Lea think will ultimately win the competition? Turns out, it’s looking pretty hard to tell just yet. "There were so many people I saw that could fit into the Glee cast that I literally told [producers] they have the hardest job. There are so many kids that I thought would be perfect on Glee."
