Miranda Lambert: I Taught Blake Shelton How to “Really Love”
As country music’s “it couple” embarks on their second year of marriage, vocalist and former Voice mentor Miranda Lambert seems pretty confident in her relationship.
Though the musician claims she’s only seen her husband Blake Shelton four out of the first 12 months of their marriage, she thinks that only makes them stronger.
“Our marriage works because we have other stuff going on,” Miranda told USA Weekend. “I’ve learned that if you’re someone’s world or someone’s your world, eventually it will explode.”
Apparently Blake’s funny man antics on The Voice have transferred into their life as a couple.
“He’s taught me to not take myself so seriously,” Miranda said. “I would never laugh, and I had no sense of humor. I had to work all the time. He made me have fun.”
But apparently Mr. Shelton isn’t the only one who is doling out the life lessons.
“I think I’ve taught him how to really love,” Miranda said. “I don’t think he ever did before our relationship.”
Ouch. We’re not sure Blake’s first wife Kaynette Williams will appreciate that statement.
Miranda met Blake and even “went through his divorce with him,” but the scandal came when the couple started dating shortly after his divorce.
Miranda described that time as complicated.
“Breaking up, getting back together, spending two months apart — that’s hard,” she said. “I hope I don’t ever have to have my heart broken bad again.”
We don’t think the country music power couple is going anywhere anytime soon. And what happens when the Male and Female Vocalists of the Year get together? They produce a twang-filled offspring, like RaeLynn.
