Born with Morning Glory Syndrome,The Glee Project 2 contender Mario Bonds watched his vision slowly begin to fade throughout childhood — until he ultimately lost his sight at the age of nine. The now 24-year-old Washington D.C. native, who performs under the name “Arnauz,” has been singing with gospel and chamber choirs for over nine years.
Even without his sight, Mario can still dance, act, and play plenty of musical instruments including piano, drums and guitar. He believes music has healing powers, and credits his love of performing arts for helping get him through many challenging life experiences. Mario’s mother died when he was just an infant, and his father is out of the picture. He and his triplet siblings found a home with their grandmother, but they moved around often and had to switch schools.
Along with his vocal aspirations, Mario is also a comedian, motivational speaker, and voice-over artist. Man, is there anything this guy can’t do?
