Real Housewives of New York

Sonja Morgan Confesses That She Joined RHONY For the Money

Sonja Morgan appeared to effortlessly fit into the Real Housewives of New York cast when she joined the show in the middle of Season 3. But she tells Lifestyle Mirror that she only acquiesced to be on the show when she started feeling financially insecure.

At the time, Sonja was nearing the end of her 10-year marriage to JP Morgan heir John Adams Morgan. As we recently reported, she says that she hesitated when Bravo approached her about joining the original RHONY Season 1 cast, because she still thought of reality TV as a sketchy business.

But when producers came knocking again in 2010, Sonja says that she needed the money. "I knew at that point my divorce settlement wasn't coming," she says. "I needed to support myself and my daughter in our townhouse."

As we discovered while investigating the cast’s net worth, Sonja is reportedly in major debt to the tune of $20 million. We just hope Andy Cohen is paying her every penny she deserves for entertaining us so much!
