Real Housewives of New Jersey

Caroline Manzo Opens Up About Her “Difficult” Season on The Real Housewives of New Jersey – Exclusive

We had the pleasure of catching up with Caroline Manzo and some of her family members at the Samsung Hope for Children Gala at The Museum of Natural History in New York City on June 4, and she opened up about her “difficult” season, her brother’s wedding and why she thinks Joe Giudice is “a bit homophobic.”

Check out the exclusive interview below and be sure to read our chat with Jacqueline Laurita as well!

It was great to see your brother’s wedding juxtaposed with Rosie’s coming out story. Did any of what Kathy Wakile and her family was going through resonate with you?

Of course. We all know what it’s like to love someone and watch them be tortured with feeling like they are inadequate or they don’t belong or they’re not up to par. To watch that for a brother or sister, a son or a daughter, it has to be heartbreaking.

I’m glad that Kathy has us to talk to and we have Kathy, but this has been something that we’ve known about my brother for many years and it’s something that we have accepted and embraced.

It was nice that we were able to put it out on a network that understood it and was proud to put it out, and I think that’s what’s so special for us.

Was it nerve-wracking to write the speech for Jaime’s wedding?

I winged it. I completely winged it, I wasn’t afraid at all.

You said something to the effect of Teresa adding wood to the fire with regards to your relationships with some of your family members. What exactly did you mean by that? Will we get to see that unfold?

I hope you’ll get to see it. It’s been a difficult season for me because I think there’s a lack of understanding with the viewers, but I stand by what I say. If I have to get beat up, then so be it, but I’m telling the truth.

You tweeted recently that you were thinking of selling your house …

Everybody don’t get your panties in a bunch! My house is too big, I don’t need it anymore. My boys are gone and Lauren’s got one foot out the door. Financially, it just doesn’t make sense to have that much house.

After Joe made that comment to Greg when you were all on the bus, how did you stay so composed?

You have to take it from where it comes. I said in my blog, I don’t think he meant it maliciously. I just think he says things and he doesn’t understand that it’s hurtful, he apologized right away.

There’s no question that there is an issue with him being a bit homophobic I’m not going to deny that — but I have to say at that moment I just thought it was a very poor attempt at a very bad joke. That’s my belief.
