Philip Seymour Hoffman Offered Gamemaker Role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Forget speculating about who's going to play Finnick for a minute. New scoop on The Hunger Games has emerged that Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the role of Capitol Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in the second film in the series, Catching Fire.

Phil won his Oscar for playing Truman Capote in Capote and just ended a run as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman on Broadway. But he was also in Boogie Nights and The Big Lebowski, so the dude does highbrow, lowbrow and blockbuster-brow equally. He’s just awesome.

As Entertainment Weekly describes Phil’s (possible) character, "Plutarch is a far savvier political animal than his predecessor, and he plays a crucial role in the events of Catching Fire."

Are you happy about this potential casting news?

OK, now go back to speculating about Finnick...
