Yesterday he took to Twitter, revealing, “SDCC [San Diego Comic Con] 2012 shld [sic] be a blast and quite possibly the last for #Bones ? Farewell tour? Look forward to seeing everyone there.” Um, wait — what? Farewell tour? As in Bones’ last appearance at Comic Con or is David teasing the end of Bones in general?
When the vagueness of David’s tweet left fans befuddled, he clarifies, “Let's put this in sports terms. I'm a free agent after this season. So the Bones fair well tour is in full-swing.” If this news does mean the end of Bones, it would fly in the face of show creator Hart Hanson’s recent assurances to fans that, “I could see Season 9 or 10 being the last, but definitely not [Season 8],” adding “there’s a good three seasons [of story] left” in Bones. However, Hart’s promise to fans does leave David room to leave Bones, with the show going on without him.
The problem is that David loves to rile fans up on Twitter, as he did earlier this year by hinting that Booth was killed off in the Season 7 Finale. And notice the use of questions marks and misspelling of “farewell” in his second tweet? It’s all too mysterious to know for sure.
Fool us once, David Boreanaz, shame on you — fool us twice, and it’s just a shame.
