Emma Stone Reveals Life-Long Battle With Panic Attacks
Emma Stone may be the lead actress in one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, but in the July issue of Vogue, the funny girl says that she’s been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks since she was 8 years old.
"I was just kind of immobilized by it," says Emma, who had her first panic attack at 8 years old. "I didn't want to go to my friends' houses or hang out with anybody, and nobody really understood."
But the 23-year-old actress says that she eventually found the closest thing to a cure in acting. "[Being on stage] gave me a sense of purpose. I wanted to make people laugh," she said. "Comedy was my sport. It taught me how to roll with the punches.”
Still, Emma says that on the The Amazing Spider-Man set, "I think I felt really out of control of my surroundings." Emma says that she started baking to alleviate some of her anxiety, a very un-actress-y kind of thing to do. But then again, Emma isn’t your everyday actress, is she?
