We so very desperately wish Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) will one day go on So You Think You Can Dance to show off his newly revealed secret talent. And no, that talent is not charming the pants off Mary Murphy with his brogue. In honor of Brave's premiere last weekend and the subsequent love-fest with his Scottish roots, Kevin revealed that he owns two Scottish kilts, and was taught traditional Scottish folk dance in school as a young boy.
"We were taught that in PE, physical education, in Scottish school," he dished to On The Red Carpet. "Every boy and girl [is] taught those dances for kind of like a month and a half, at Christmas time, when it's so cold you can't go outside. You're in the gym hall and you get taught all those dances. So it's like riding a bicycle for me."
So, while we only get to see Kevin in cartoon form on the big screen in Brave, he can actually show off the traditional dances of his homeland in real life. Um, again: why hasn't this been featured on SYTYCD? Does Kevin need us to set up a meet 'n' greet with Nigel Lythgoe for him?
"It's so much fun, I can't tell you how much fun that dancing is for me," he added. "It's such a social thing. It breaks down so many barriers. I'm very proud of my heritage."
Sounds like it's right up SYTYCD's "spreading the world of dance" alley. You're welcome, Fox.
Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return to Thursdays at 9 p.m. with all-new episodes in the fall onABC.
