Was Bachelorette Emily Maynard Wrong to Dump Doug Clerget Like That?
Ouch. Not only did Emily Maynard dump Doug Clerget before the hometown dates on The Bachelorette Season 8, Episode 7 — she took him outside in the rain, gave him a slow mover vs. no mover speech, gave him an awkward “thank you for that” when he finally kissed her, then dumped him right there on the spot. Right there, when both John “Just Finally Got My First Date This Week, and It Was In A Dungeon” Wolfner and Chris “Bratty Bobblehead" Bukowski were both still in play.
Emily was right about Doug's body language in Prague, he had his arms crossed and he was overly sensitive about not getting close enough to touch her. But it was a group date and it’s not like he did anything wrong. He didn’t insult her like Kalon McMahon or call her a trophy wife (100 times!) like Ryan Bowers. Even if Emily knew Doug wasn’t The One and didn’t want to keep him for a hometown date — which would potentially bring Doug’s son Austin into the mix — why right then? There in the rain? It seemed cold. Literally.
