The Voice’s Adam Levine: I Have a High Opinion of Myself

With today’s debut of Maroon 5’s appropriately titled album Overexposed, frontman Adam Levine has a lot to be proud of.

But don’t expect this tattooed rocker to take his increase in fame modestly.

"I have a high self-opinion — I don't need to hide that,” Adam told USA Today. “I don't need to be self-deprecating. I do believe that I deserve what I have. I don't think I'm entitled to it. That's a big difference."

But Adam’s always known that he needed to have a career that would bring in the big bucks, mostly to maintain his lifestyle.

"My mom told me a long time ago, 'All I know is, you'll never change, so you'd better get somebody to take care of your room and get a housekeeper,'” Adam admitted. “That was burned into my skull: 'Must make money so I don't have to do my chores, because I wouldn't do them anyway.' It's sweet that I don't have to do my laundry."

And with Adam’s recent successes, he can afford plenty of housekeepers. The singer has taken a turn toward acting following his work on the first two seasons of The Voice.

Adam has a role in the second season of American Horror Story, and he recently landed his first film role in the movie Can a Song Save Your Life?

But despite his ability to branch off and do solo work, his loyalty remains with Maroon 5 and making music.

"We talked about it a long time ago and decided I would step out, for us," Adam said. "Not for me or my own ego. We did it consciously. We wanted there to be a frontman.”

The only problem with Adam’s newfound fame?

"We can't go out for beers anymore, not really,” Adam said. “That [stinks]. It's not fun. But it ain't that big a deal. It's not cancer. It's an annoyance. It's nothing that will keep me up at night."
