The Amazing Spider-Man, Katy Perry: Part of Me, Savages: Wetpaint Entertainment’s Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 7/6

In need of some downtime after a crazy Fourth of July? Sounds like a movie is in order. Here's the scoop on three flicks showing this Friday, July 6.

The Amazing Spider-Man

After a five-year hiatus, Spider-Man is back on the big screen — this time with a different A-list actor flinging himself around Manhattan in the iconic spandex suit. Andrew Garfield’s teenage Peter Parker/Spider-Man juggles high school, his first crush (on Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy), and startling new revelations about his parents’ disappearance in this hotly anticipated reboot. Rhys Ifans menaces as the bad guy, The Lizard.
Sexy: Real-life couple Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s sexy on-screen chemistry — and former Secret Circle star Chris Zylka
Not sexy: A monstrous villain
Verdict: This is a no-brainer. If you haven’t already seen this blockbuster (it opened July 3), get yourself to a theater right now. No excuses, people.

Katy Perry: Part of Me

A la Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never, Katy Perry: Part of Me takes a look at the pop star’s life both on and off the stage.
Sexy: Katy Perry, of course!
Not sexy: The dissolution of Katy’s marriage to Russell Brand
Verdict: If you love Katy’s music, this is a must-see. “Last Friday night, yeah we danced on tabletops, and we saw Part of Me... ” T.G.I.F., arewerite? If you’re not a fan, well, that lyrics-based reference probably went over your head. (And you shouldn’t go to the movie.)

Savages

Adapted from Don Winslow’s best-selling 2010 crime novel, Oliver Stone’s Savages follows two Laguna Beach pot growers — Chon (Taylor Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL, and Ben (Aaron Johnson), a gentle Buddhist — and the gorgeous woman they both love (Blake Lively’s Ophelia). Life is all fun and weed in the sun until a Mexican cartel moves in and makes some severely unpalatable demands.
Sexy: Taylor Kitsch (yum) and Gossip Girl starlet Blake Lively
Not sexy: Drug cartels
Verdict: If you don’t mind blood, gore, and dark twistiness, go ahead and catch this graphically violent, trippy gangster film.
