RHONY’s Aviva Drescher Calls Ramona Singer “Mean” and “Insensitive”

We doubt we’re the only ones who felt seriously uncomfortable watching Ramona Singer’s baffled reaction to Aviva Drescher’s prosthetic leg on The Real Housewives of New York Season 5, Episode 6: "I'm UK, You're UK". And, as it turns out, Aviva herself was just as bewildered.

On her blog, Aviva described the shoe-shopping trip with Ramona as “quite the experience.” She continued, “Who knew it would be so difficult for a woman in her fifties to understand the concept of an amputated leg? I learned that day that Ramona had never heard of the word ‘prosthesis’ before.”

Aviva says that Ramona’s giggly, awe-struck reaction to seeing her leg for the first time was “insensitive,” and that her “line of questioning [was] fit for a child.” Not to mention Ramona’s puzzled face as she asked if Aviva wears a bathing suit.

“To question whether or not I can wear a bathing suit is bizarre,” Aviva says. “Does Ramona think I should be ashamed to wear a bathing suit?” Judging from Aviva’s stellar figure, we certainly hope not!

Also included in her blog is a formal apology to co-star and fellow new girl Heather Thomson, who Aviva says she should have defended more against Ramona’s “junior high” mockery. “As Ramona got really mean,” she says, “I sat there, frozen. I should have defended Heather, and I am sorry to Heather that I did not.”

Do you think Aviva is right to call Ramona “mean” and immature? Or is she being the mean one in this blog? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
