How Katie Holmes Dropped Divorce Bomb on Tom Cruise and Used Disposable Cell Phone to Plan Split
Are you sick of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes yet? You can't be too sick of them if you're still curious enough to read about their continued divorce saga.
The strange draw of TomKat's demise — and the settlement reached just 11 days after Katie filed for divorce — has put the couple back on the cover of People magazine this week. With a smiling photo of Katie, the mag claims to share "Secrets of the Split." "Once she decided to go, she was done," a source told People, saying Katie "no longer had the life she wanted, in terms of her career, her way of life, everything."
To get out, she staged her own version of Mission: Impossible. "She knew she had to have everything locked down before she pulled the trigger," the source continued, "because there could be no wiggle room if she didn't want this to turn into a long, drawn-out battle."
The story claims her attorney father Martin helped her orchestrate “a secretive exit strategy that included moving into a new downtown Manhattan apartment, switching cell phones and keeping her megastar husband in the dark – until a bombshell phone call in which she broke the news to him.” (But did he get the news before or after it hit the media?)
According to the L.A. Times, Katie launched her divorce by having a friend get her a disposable cell phone so she could talk to her lawyers without Tom knowing. The story say Katie had hired three law firms in three states by the time a deal was struck last weekend to end the marriage.
That is some serious sleuthing. How scared of your own husband’s power must you be to take such drastic measures?
