HBO Under Fire Again After True Blood Villains Don Barack Obama Masks: Did They Go Too Far?
HBO’s programing has been getting a lot of attention in recent weeks, and not in a good way.
Earlier this year the network found itself in hot water after a mask of former president George W. Bush served as a decapitated head on a stake during a scene in Season 1 of Game of Thrones.
The slip-up was revealed on the DVD commentary for GoT, and HBO subsequently edited the features on the mask so it wouldn’t look like the former Commander in Chief. But now they have a new presidential faux pas to grapple with.
On the July 8 episode of True Blood, the group of villains who shot at Sam, Luna, and Emma wore masks to hide their faces, and their disguise of choice was none other than masks of President Barack Obama. Yikes!
A spokesperson for HBO told E! Online that there was no relation between the Game of Thrones and True Blood incidents, saying, “It's a complete and utter coincidence and one show has nothing to do with the other.”
