Real Housewives of New York

Ouch! RHONY’s Carole Radziwill Calls LuAnn de Lesseps’s Conversation Skills “Grating”

On last night’s Real Housewives of New York (Season 5, Episode 7: “Good Trip, Bad Fall”), the highly anticipated “royal battle” between LuAnn de Lesseps and Carole Radziwill went full-steam ahead. Maybe it was all in the editing, but it certainly looked and sounded like the Countess was trying to one-up everything Carole said.

While LuAnn went on Watch What Happens! Live to say that she was merely trying to make a connection by sharing things in common with Carole, the Princess offered another perspective on her BravoTV blog.

“LuAnn and I were having quite a go at it, this show,” Carole writes. “Her mother had more kids, her friend is a better masturbator, she did gymnastics and played softball and wrote a book, too, and had babies and also her brother had twins.” Carole concluded, “I found LuAnn’s conversation skills to be … grating.”

By way of example, Carole cited Kristen Wiig’s “Penelope” sketches on Saturday Night Live, about a perpetual one-upper. (She even linked to a video here.) And, she added, “Don’t one-up Cinderella. Wink.”

Do you think Carole is being too harsh? Or does LuAnn deserve a little mockery for her poor “conversational skills”? Share your thoughts in the comments.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
