Glee’s Darren Criss Wants Which Veteran TV Actor To Play His Dad?
Is Glee’s Darren Criss channelling his inner Seth Cohen? Darren told reporters at last weekend’s Comic-Con that he would like to see Peter Gallagher play Blaine’s dad, joking that they even have “the same eyebrows.” Plus, Peter Gallagher can freakin’ sing! C’mon, Ryan Murphy — let’s make this happen!
Peter has appeared in a slew of TV and film projects but is probably best known for his role on The OC as Sandy Cohen, a loving father of wise-cracking Seth (played by Adam Brody). Peter’s numerous film roles include While You Were Sleeping and American Beauty (along with some 1998 film that’s apparently called Johnny Skidmarks), and he has a ton of Broadway credits as well, like Grease and Guys and Dolls.
Darren wants Matt Bomer to reprise his role as Blaine’s brother Cooper, saying that Matt is a “sweetheart.” And we agree about wanting Matt’s return, since he was hilarious — and hot! Darren also has a guest star in mind for who he’d like to play Blaine’s mother, but he’s keeping that one a secret, saying that he doesn’t want to jinx it. So who do you think would be good for Blaine’s mom?
A few of the other Glee cast members had some fun playing the dream-casting game, too. Jenna Ushkowitz wants Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh as Tina’s “crazy aunt,” while Kevin McHale would like Katey Sagal — a.k.a. Peggy Bundy! — as his mom and Harry Connick, Jr. as his dad. In fact, when Kristin Chenoweth was on Glee, she would even refer to Kevin as “Little Harry Connick.” And who are we to argue with Kristin Chenoweth?
