Gangster Squad Trailer Pulled Due to Theater Shooting Scene
Amid the tragic Colorado shooting that took place during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, the studio behind the film is containing a possible PR disaster surrounding an upcoming movie.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Warner Bros. has pulled the violent trailer for Gangster Squad from theaters across the country. The retro film — which stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, and Emma Stone — follows the L.A. Police Department’s clandestine anti-mob team during the 1940s. It’s currently scheduled for a September 7 release.
The trailer itself features a particular scene set in Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, where mobsters begin shooting an unsuspecting audience through the movie screen.
A source linked to Warner Bros. told the Los Angeles Times that this particular trailer was not shown during TheDark Knight Rises screening in Aurora, Colorado, where last night’s shooting took place.
